Cookie Exchange

So many of us are so busy with work and kids that we do not have time to get things done.  One of these things is baking.  Lets face it, homemade cookies are the best.  Prepackaged is nice, but there something wonderful about homemade treats!  I know many of us want a wide variety of cookies for the holiday and lets face it, it is a lot of work to bake all of these.  My girlfriends and I are all married with kids.  We have trouble finding time for many things!  My good friend Tricia came up with the cookie exchange idea for us.  There are six of us so we each picked a specific cookie and made six dozen of our specific cookie.  We met up and exchanged these before Christmas and we left with six different dozen cookies.  To make it even nicer we all put our cookies in cute holiday containers so they were ready to go.  So we not only left with all those cookies, but we received reusable containers and plates for the holidays.

Ornaments

You can find really cute ornaments for $1.  I went to The Christmas Tree Shop and found some great ones!  Since it is Christmas, how wonderful would it be to give each family an ornament to take home, to remember that special time they had with you?  These ornaments would not only look cute by themselves with a ribbon, in a cute box, or a bag, but attached to your cookie buckets I blogged about earlier!  Ornaments are also a great way to have a gift exchange and not spend a fortune on presents.  In the office we used to all buy a $10 or $10's worth of ornaments and wrap them.  This is also a fun thing to do with your friends!  My girlfriends and I used to do this and it was really nice receiving ornaments and as gifts, because we alway need ornaments.  Through the years ornaments tend to break, so it is always nice to have new ones to display.

Cookies

Who doesn't love Christmas cookies!  Giving the gift of homemade cookies is one of the greatest and most appreciated gifts you could give!  I went to the Dollar Tree (shocker!) and I found these cute small plastic Christmas buckets with lids.  These are great for cookies!  They came in a pack of two and they were only $1.  I have decided that I want my family to leave my house this Christmas Eve with their own bucket of cookies.  These are not just any cookies, these are the cookies we grew up with at Christmas.  My Grandmother used to make these specific cookies every Christmas and has since stopped.  I think everyone will enjoy seeing these cookies appear Christmas!  Pics will come later once I get my baking on of course!
